Tarang's 2nd - Sarang Kulkarni
Tarang presents Sarang Kulkarni's Sarod concert which leaves Hyderabadi's spell bound .
"Tarang " a not for profit forum to promote and introduce the young jewels of Indian classical music, featured Sarang Kulkarni on 25 Sept 2011 at the comfortable Shantha Auditorium in Sunshine Hospital , Secunderabad.
Sarang Kulkarni a young 20 year old and gifted Sarod player from Pune , began his concert with Raag Madhuvanti .The alaap Jod and jhala could bring out the haunting melody of this evening raaga .The vilambit drut composition sent audience into raptures several times due to the perfect co- ordination with the accompanying Tabla artist Shri Hari jit singh. who drew repeated applause.
Sarang next played a Hori (with the backdrop of holi in mathura), which was a bouquet of melody reminding one of the by gone era of Girija devi and Begum Akhtar"s whose rendition "Holi khelat Nandlala" can never be forgotten.
Sarang Switched to light classical after the break and played his own composition in mishra pahadi the melody raag of the Himalayas.Sarang followed this up with a composition in Raag Des and then with Gandhi ji s favorite Bhajan "Vaishnava Janate" in which he innovated several bandish with the Harijit providing a perfect percussion support.
He concluded with a very innovative composition in mishra Bhairavi which left the audience spell bound and the music lovers showering this youngster with blessings and greetings.
Harijit on Tabla and Sarang on Sarod were a perfect match in style , charm , talent, rhythm and melody and with eyes closed it felt that Zakir and Ustad Amjad Ali AkbarKhan were performing .
A very wonderful even by Tarang indeed and this gifted 20 year old maestro will indeed grow to be rated amongst India's best Sarod Players in the very near future

Tarang's 1st Concert- Abhishruti
It takes years of untiring dedication and practice, numerous performances and some hard
knocks before an artist attains fame and recognition. Their passion demands time, effort,
enormous amounts of energy and above all mental strength and conviction to carry on.
We hope to provide one tiny avenue for them to journey on towards their destiny. In
pursuit of this objective we present today Ms. Abhishruthi Bezbaruah, a worthy disciple
of the famous duo; Padma Bhushan Pt. Rajan – Sajan Misra; who have said this of her
talent “It is wonderful for us to se our student performing so well”
Abhishruthi is multi talented, having displayed this aspect of her personality at a very
young age. A student of Mayo College Girls School, Ajmer and Lady Shri Ram College ,
New Delhi, she has won nearly every competition that she participated in and we can say
with certainty that winning is a habit of hers.
Abhishruthi has also done a course in Sound Recording, Design and Music production
from Whistling Woods International, Mumbai. A sound decision no doubt. In addition to
all these she is also a fine Bharatnatyam dancer having staged her Arrangetram- ‘Ranga
Pravesh’ in 2003.
Among the many awards that she has won; the Young Talent award for Hindustani
Classical Music by the Ministry of Culture, Govt of India and the 1st prize in the All India
Radio competition in the vocal music category, deserves special mention particularly as
the latter was the first by an Assamese. She is a radio approved graded artist in both the
classical as well as the Sugam Sangeet categories. This immensely talented lady is also a
regular on the Doordarshan presentations.
Abhishruthi has performed all over the country and abroad at many cultural, educational,
corporate and government events. Her mastery over her craft is a delight to the rasiks
and the layman alike. Her command over the range of ragas and impeccable technique
has taken her to Houston, Atlanta, Boston and Yorkshire. She has also featured on a
local radio channel – Radio Masti in Houston, displaying a lighter and fun side of her
personality.
This lovely lady also has a beautiful heart as seen by her efforts to raise funds by
performing at the Unitarian University Church, Munice, Indianapolis, USA and for
Martin Hospice of Huddersfield, UK. Her beautiful music and smile has helped soothe
the hearts and bring a smile on many faces.
Abhishruthi has also sung in Padmashri Muzaffar Ali’s serial “Zubaan-e-Ishq” and his
opera “Gomti”. Has sung for Pt. Jaikishan Maharaj’s ballets “Abhisaar” and “Orja ki
Nrittaki” apart from lending her voice ( ??! ) in the Disney channel serial “Ishaan”. Of
her talent and effort Shri Muzaffar Ali said ”Her mellifluous voice has touched our
hearts.”
In addition to all these activities Abhishruthi finds time to cut music albums of which
one is with the renowned bhajan maestro Shri Anup Jalotaji - “Prayaas- A classical
endeavour” and one other, a tribute to Late Darpanath Sharma – “Emuthi Geetor
Sonkolon” , an Assamese music album. Presently she is working on a semi classical
album in Assamese.
All these accomplishments at such a young age! A precious jewel to her gurus and an
every lasting delight to her audience.
We wish her the very best in all her endeavours.
It is imperative and appropriate that we thank Dr. Balasubramaniam, Director Research,
L V Prasad Eye Institute for his support by allowing us to organize this performance here.
We also thank all the people at this esteemed institute who helped us do it.
