If you're up for an hour long drive out of the city and a crash course in hindu mythology, a visit to Surendrapuri is a satisfying way to spend your time...A 60-km drive away from the city, this museum lies en-route to Yadigirigutta and gives you an opportunity to acquaint yourself with hindu mythology be it the Ramayana, Mahabharata, Bhagavata or other Puranas. All the important events are carved out in the form of sculptures employing ultra-modern artistic techniques. This sprawling 18-acre set up also has famous replicas of all the important temples and gods such as Kaashi Viswanath, Kolkata Kali, Madhurai Meenakshi, Tirumala Balaji, Shirdi Saibaba, Palani Kumara Swami and Ayodhya Rama.
Whether it's the vana vasam of Lord Rama or the churning of the Ksheera Sagaram (Milky Ocean), this year old mythological museum presents Indian mythology to devotees, especially youngsters, in a simplified manner.
Just next to this mytholigical awarness centre, architected in the form of a "Padmavyuham," is the Panchamukha Hanuman Temple, comprising one of the tallest idols of Hanuman. Ask the 70 year old visionary of this unique project Mr Kunda Satyanaryana how he came up with this concept and his immediate reply is, "When my youngest son Surendra Babu died , I desired to do something in his memory and I came up with the idea of building a mythological park and it took me over 12 years to successfully give shape to this dream project.
